FAQ's
Is the workshop suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! No previous experience is needed. All workshops are designed to be welcoming and accessible, with step-by-step guidance throughout. Whether you’re completely new to stained glass or simply looking to try something creative, you’ll be supported and guided throughout the whole process.
What is included in the stained glass workshop?
Everything you need to create your own stained glass piece is provided, including glass, tools, materials and PPE (personal protective equipment). Refreshments are also included on the day.
What type of stained glass techniques will I learn?
You’ll learn traditional copper foil techniques, commonly known as the Tiffany method, the same technique used to create decorative stained glass lamps. Individual pieces of glass are carefully wrapped in copper foil and then soldered together to create your design. If you choose to make a contemporary panel, you’ll also learn how to add and finish zinc edging, giving your piece a strong, clean and professional finish.
Do I get to cut glass at the taster workshop?
No. The taster workshop is 2.5 hours long, so the time is focused on learning the latter part of the process, the copper foil technique, soldering and polishing. Cutting the glass isn’t included as there wouldn’t be enough time to create the same designs from start to finish.
If I book a private 2 person workshop, it says I can choose my own design. Where can I source stained glass patterns?
Yes! When you book a private 2-person workshop, you can choose your own stained glass design. You can source a pattern from Etsy or directly from a stained-glass artist but please avoid any AI designs. AI can create stained glass designs, but it often struggles to make patterns that are actually practical and accurate enough to build.
To ensure the original artist is supported, proof of purchase for your chosen pattern must be provided before the workshop. An Etsy receipt/order confirmation or confirmation of purchase from the artist is perfect.
What should I wear to the workshop?
I recommend comfortable layered clothing and closed-toe shoes. You will be provided with a thick canvas apron to protect your clothes.
Will I take my finished piece home on the day?
Absolutely! Your stained glass piece will be finished during the workshop, so you’ll be able to take it home with you at the end of the day.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Stained glass workshops are available to anyone aged 16 and over.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please refer to the booking terms and conditions on the workshop listing for full details on cancellations and rescheduling.
Can I buy a workshop voucher?
Yes. A stained glass experience can make a unique gift. Go to the gift card section on the website and email me a couple of preferred dates. I will do my best to accommodate your first choice.
